Spring repair
Broken spring? We replace it safely.
Garage door springs do the heavy lifting. A typical door weighs well over a hundred pounds, and the springs carry nearly all of it so the opener doesn't have to. When a spring breaks, the door feels very heavy or won't lift at all, and you often hear a loud bang from the garage first.
Torsion springs sit on a bar above the door, and extension springs run along the sides of the track. Both are under high tension, which is why replacing them is a job for a trained technician with the right winding bars and tools. We match the new springs to your door's weight and size, so the door balances properly instead of fighting the opener.
Standard springs are commonly rated around 10,000 cycles, which is roughly seven years of daily use. If your door has two springs and one breaks, the other has worked just as hard, so we'll tell you honestly whether replacing both makes sense. High-cycle springs are available if you want a longer-lasting upgrade.

A clear process, start to finish.
- 01
Inspect the whole system
We check the springs, cables, drums, rollers and tracks, because worn parts often fail together.
- 02
Fit springs matched to your door
We replace torsion or extension springs sized to your door's weight and height.
- 03
Balance and adjust
The door should stay put when lifted halfway. We set the tension so it moves smoothly.

Test the opener and safety reverse
We confirm the opener runs without strain and that the door reverses on contact.

Good questions. Straight answers.

Can I open my garage door if the spring is broken?
We strongly recommend you don't. Without the spring the door can drop suddenly, and forcing it with the opener can damage the motor. Leave it closed and call us.
How long does a spring replacement take?
Most spring repairs are finished in a single visit once the technician has inspected the door.
Should I replace one spring or both?
On doors with two springs, both have worked the same number of cycles. Your technician will tell you what makes sense for your door.
How long do garage door springs last?
Standard springs are commonly rated around 10,000 cycles, which is roughly seven years of daily use. Heavier use wears them out sooner.
Is it safe to replace a spring myself?
We don't recommend it. Springs are under high tension and can cause serious injury. It's a job for a trained technician.
